Blackman Rossouw is a media publishing agency whose staff have over ten years’ experience in publishing, writing, editing, content management, print production and design. We offer an integrated multi-platform publishing service that includes content production, web, book and catalogue design. Blackman Rossouw work on a sliding scale which caters for the client’s needs and budgets. We are the publishers of Strandwolf African Classics, a series of classic literary texts that seeks to promote writing on Africa and expose neglected histories.
Blackman Rossouw develops and produces content from annual reviews to magazine articles to monographs. We have experience in a range of subjects including: art, history, literature, photography, development theory, law, economics and politics.
We offer a copy editing and proofreading service. Our editing team has considerable experience in assisting writers to prepare manuscripts and articles for publication. We aim at improving writing while performing general grammar and error correction.
Blackman Rossouw has over ten years’ experience in photography. Our expertise lies in copy photography and postproduction. We provide colour correction, retouching and compositing for large format printing as well as monographs and catalogues.
Our team designs books, magazines, catalogues and web pages. We aim at producing printed and web products that are consistent with our clients’ preferences and style. Our goal is to craft designs that are tailored to the customer’s aesthetics and on their schedules.

Blackman Rossouw is a new creative media publishing agency. At the heart of the agency is a desire to help produce, facilitate and republish content that aims at transforming our society. Our approach is to research and create with each client. We tailor design and content to specific requirements and needs. We offer a fully integrated publishing service that encompasses design, content and print production.

Matthew Blackman is a writer, editor and academic who has written on subjects ranging from art to literature to political philosophy to development theory. He has an MA in creative writing from the University of Cape Town and an MSc in the philosophy of public policy from the London School of Economics. He is currently completing his PhD in critical and creative writing at the University of East Anglia. He was the editor of ArtThrob and has written for Art Review, Aesthetica, Sunday Times, Mail & Guardian and City Press. Matthew has twice won a silver medal at the Standard Bank Arts Journalism Awards. He has published a novel and edited a collection of essays on law.
Chad Rossouw is an educator, editor, designer and artist. He has an MFA from the University of Cape Town. He currently edits the contemporary art magazine ArtThrob, and teaches history and photographic postproduction at the Cape Town School of Photography. He works as a freelance designer, most recently for Ndifuna Ukwazi and Herzlia High School. As an artist he has had two solo exhibitions, and appeared on many group shows.
